Yesterday I turned 33 and I feel GOOD about it. I know getting older gets a bad rap, but let me ask you, what’s the alternative? You might as well make the best of it and enjoy each moment, right? Right!
In honor of my 33rd birthday I’ve pulled together 33 life lessons I’ve learned over the last 12,045 days, in no particular order.
1. Trusting yourself can be hard, but also the greatest thing you could ever do. Ever.
2. Therapy can, quite literally, change your life, if you let it.
3. It’s important to separate yourself from toxic people and energy.
4. Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish at all. In fact, it’s just the opposite.
5. Heartbreak is hard as f*ck, but time heals all.
6. Sometimes hitting rock bottom is necessary, and it’s ok if you do.
7. Friendships can change and that’s ok.
8. Laughing essentially makes any situation better.
9. Altering your expectations is sometimes necessary.
10. Communication is vital to a successful relationship.
11. There’s enough room for all of us to succeed.
12. People might piss you off. Rise above them and take the high road.
13. You don’t have to respond immediately. Oftentimes taking time to think before you speak is extremely beneficial.
14. Find a job you love, and don’t worry about other people’s opinions on it.
15. The law of attraction is everything. What you think and feel will become your reality.
16. Trust the process.
17. Being nice is so so important. There is never a reason to be rude.
18. Yelling solves nothing. In fact, it usually makes things worse.
19. You are in control of your happiness.
20. If you’re having a bad day, it’s just that: a bad day, not a bad life.
21. No emotion or feeling is permanent.
22. Don’t ever stop feeling grateful.
23. What Susie says of Sally is more a reflection of Susie, not Sally.
24. Be who you are and no one else.
25. You don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.
26. It’s perfectly ok if your path isn’t the “norm.”
27. It’s ok to say “no.”
28. You can’t change a person; stop trying.
29. You can’t control what someone says or does; the only thing you can control is how you respond.
30. Don’t ask the question if you’re not ready to hear the answer.
31. Get yourself into alignment before anything else.
32. Being honest is completely different from being rude.
33. You will continue to evolve and grow and learn about yourself forever. Don’t ever stop enjoying this crazy ride we call life.
…among many others!
Here’s to another trip around the sun, and many more after that.
Thank you so much, as always, for following along. It means the world to me.
