Why I Moved Back to New York City

IMG_0021

Hi guys! If you follow my Instagram stories, you have likely seen that I’ve been spending lots of time back in New York City. And several of you have inquired about it actually, and I love that you have. I’m pretty much an open book, so I prefer when people come straight to the source (i.e. me) rather than speculate. You feel me?

So, I did, in fact, move back to NYC! As a brief history lesson, I lived here about six years ago, and from when I was 17 on my family lived in the northeast. Of course, part of that time I was in college, but in between semesters I’d be in the city interning, and then I went to Boston for college, and moved back to the city a couple years after I graduated.

With all that being said, I have a soft spot for the New York area. And while I do love Houston, and it was very sad saying goodbye, I had been itching to get back to New York for several years now. Never did that itch make me not live my life fully in Houston, but it was always in the back of my head. My family primarily lives in New York and the northeast part of the country, and truth be told, it’s been really hard not living near them.

But what about my husband, you ask?

Great question. And I’ll answer that right here right now, and more in depth in a later post.

My husband, Matthew, and I are very much still married and very much in love, and we see each other on the regular in both NYC and Houston.

While I do miss my Houston life in a tremendous way (and cannot wait to see my best gals and guys and Matthew’s family next month when I’m in town!), I am so excited for this next chapter. It feels right. It feels great. And it feels like I’m living my truth.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned through therapy (more on this soon!), it’s the importance of living your truth. Every single damn day.

Appreciate you all immensely and your support and your DMs. Happy Thanksgiving! I’m feeling extra grateful this year, and I hope you are, too. Lots of love always.

xo Julie
