I’m all about food trucks, and as we know, they are all the rage right now. However, clothing trucks are coming in as a close second, if not first. Yes, really! A boutique on wheels…how clever is that?!
I had the pleasure of getting coffee with the adorable and sweet Sarah Platt, behind the incredible retail shop on wheels, Urban Izzy. After not even an hour of sitting with Sarah, I felt like I had known her for years, and her drive and passion is contagious. It’s no wonder her venture is doing so well.
Urban Izzy may be a Houston based boutique truck, but don’t go away, non-Houston readers because an Urban Izzy online store launches in January! Urban Izzy came about six months ago. Izzy was Sarah’s grandfather, and that’s who she named her fabulous business after. You can find Urban Izzy at various festivals, coffee shops, bars, and other places within the city of Houston. You won’t find anything on the truck for more than $80 (and most things are less).
Sarah had the idea to start Urban Izzy because she had always wanted to own a business and she used to be a boutique manager. She started thinking, did some research, and it just clicked. There were other ’boutique on wheels’ operations in other cities, but Sarah was the first in Houston. Her products are catered to all ages and sizes. Most of her items come from LA, as well as some local designers. Urban Izzy carries a variety of brands and designers, and coming in January there will be a private label line on the truck.
I think it’s such a great idea that I believe will continue to bring as much success as it already has. Urban Izzy can be booked for private events (bachelorette parties, birthday parties..) and goes to all the best events in Houston. Next time you’re out and about and see a beautiful turquoise colored truck, go over and say hi (and shop shop shop). For more information, visit the Urban Izzy website, and make sure to check them out on Facebook and Twitter, as well.
Check out where Urban Izzy will be in the coming weeks:
