Anyone know that song reference in the title? If so, props to you! That song comes from Soul II Soul, and I couldn’t tell you any other song they sing (in fact, I had to look up who actually sang the song), but I can tell you that I think of that one lyric every time I get back from a vacation because when vacay ends, it’s exactly that. Back to life…back to reality.
Matthew and I were away this past week and got back Sunday, and now it’s back. to. the. grind. While I absolutely wish I could say that I didn’t answer one email or do any amount of work while gone, that most certainly was not the case, for Matthew or me. However, we still had an absolute blast, I’m slightly sun kissed (keyword: slightly…because Matthew and I might be the only people who get bored after like an hour of tanning, so we have to take breaks in between our time in the sun), and feeling very rejuvenated (and probably 25 pounds heavier after the amount of food we consumed…I kid I kid, but seriously).
Even though I didn’t have a ‘work-free’ week, it still truly felt like a vacation. A change of scenery, wherever that might be, is always a good thing. I honestly couldn’t complain while doing work with the ocean in the background. Not so shabby of an office. And considering wi-fi was subpar, at best, while away, we were most certainly not glued to our phones, and THAT was a treat. It was a really nice, relaxing, fun week, and as much fun as it was, I’m also really excited to get back into the swing of things.
I’m not sure about you, but I do best when I have a routine. I can totally appreciate a vacation (um, who doesn’t?!), but I LOVE routines. I wouldn’t call myself ‘Type A,’ and I’m not crazy strict with my schedule (because life happens…gotta be flexible, people), but I do love to know, more or less, what I have going on and when, and what I’ll be doing and when, and so forth and so on.
SO, just like that, it’s back to reality, and I have a busy week ahead, and I’m totally ready for it. Peace out, vacay. You were fabulous.
