Jenny-Mayants

Back again with another installment in our January wellness series! Today it’s all about Jenny Mayants, who is a Health, Fitness, and Fashion Blogger, Group Fitness Instructor, and Oil and Gas Professional. Yes, you read that correctly; this girl wears three fabulous hats! Jenny is a ball of energy with the most positive attitude and outlook on life. Her Instagram feed is also a major source of inspiration. Keep on reading for what inspires this busy gal, advice for those who want to lose weight, and so much more.

from prosecco to plaid: When did you become so interested in fitness and working out? And what inspired you to do so?

Jenny Mayants: Growing up a competitive dancer I never really worked out by definition. I just danced ALL THE TIME. That was my fitness! Meaning, the gym was a foreign place to me… not to mention the weight room. Naturally, when I left for college my dance regime and activity significantly reduced. While my physical activity levels decreased, my unhealthy eating habits increased. After gaining about 45- 50lbs in under two years while in my last years of college I realized that I needed a lifestyle change. ASAP. It wasn’t until after college when I moved back to Houston that I really took matters into my own hands. The good thing was that I already loved healthy foods and being active. It was a matter of commitment and discipline to really make the changes necessary. After losing the initial 25 pounds on my own, I hired a personal trainer three times a week for a year to teach me the ins and outs of equipment and weight training. So thankful for all that I have learned and continue to learn! Here I am about 4 years later, the healthiest version of myself! Not only that, now I am helping others become the best version of themselves!

FPTP: What/who inspires you on a daily basis?

JM: My inspiration comes from the commitment I have made to myself to never be in that unhealthy and unhappy place I once was ever again! I remind myself of that every day! My daily inspiration comes from fitness experts and leaders in the Houston community and worldwide. I would also add that my clients and followers keep me inspired and motivated each day!

FPTP: You are a BUSY gal. Between your 9-5 job, working on your blog, and teaching group fitness classes, wow! Walk us through a day in your life.

JM: OH gosh!!! I scare people a little when I tell them my schedule.

In a nutshell it’s GO GO GO GO. Sleep. GO GO GO. HA. I will take you through a typical day.

  1. Wake Up 6:30, get ready for work, pack lunch/snacks and get gym bag ready with double the workout clothes for the classes I teach in the evening
  2. Work: 7:30-4:30/5 – Corporate Oil and Gas Negotiator
  3. Teach Spin at Revolution Studio 5:30 -6:15
  4. Teach Dance Grooves at Equinox 7:30 – 8:15
  5. GO HOME! Shower, work on playlists for upcoming classes, make up routines, hangout with Carlos, blog and get ready to do it all again!!!
  6. OH, I should probably sleep too! I usually am going to bed around 10:30 or 11PM.

This is just an example of the craziness!

FPTP: You have posted about your transformation before, and I find it so inspiring. You look INCREDIBLE. What keeps you motivated to keep at it?

JM: I would say the key to maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle is PLANNING for success. I stay motivated by staying active, trying new things, testing out recipes and SO much more!! It really is all mindset. When you want something, you WORK for it every day!

FPTP: What words of wisdom do you have for those trying to lose weight/get in shape/workout more, etc?

JM: I would say the best piece of wisdom is this: Nothing will happen overnight. Shit… nothing might happen for weeks or months BUT stick to it. With time, you will see results, have more energy and gain a confidence you didn’t have before! Do not give up before you give yourself the chance to succeed. Also, don’t compare your success or losses to those around you. Every single one of us is built different! Do YOU, be YOU and FOCUS ON YOU!

FPTP: Do you have any New Years resolutions? If so, care to share a few?

JM: WOWZA! I am excited for 2016! This year is going to be a game changer for me (or so I HOPE)! I am working really hard to get an eBook available for purchase in the next few months – FITista Fabulous Body Guide! It will be a four week fitness and nutritional guide! I am really excited to build #thefitistaforce this year. This community means so so so much to me!!!!

FPTP: What motto/quote do you try to live by?

JM: YOUCAN&YOUWILL. I say this ALLLLLL the time and firmly believe it!

FPTP: How do you unwind and relax?

JM: Relax, what’s that? Just kidding. Call me crazy, but I love what I do. Working out is my relaxation and stress reliever. In my free time you can find me spending time with my family, boyfriend or friends. I love going to the movies (like I could watch 5 movies in a row)! I think my guilty pleasure is an incredible pedicure since I am always on my feet and moving around. Nothing like a nice foot rub!

FPTP: What’s your favorite way to break a sweat? And on this same question, what are a few of your favorite songs to break a sweat to?

JM: My favorite way to break a sweat is spin and dance (DUH)!!!  Songs is a hard one… I LOVE MUSIC. I would say right now my top three played songs are: 1. 679 – Fetty Wap 2. Sorry – Justin Bieber 3.Upgrade You – Beyonce (ALL THREE ON MAJOR REPEAT)

JM: I am looking forward to learning more about the fitness industry, becoming a stronger instructor and leading #TheFITistaForce to success! I am SO excited for 2016! I just have this feeling it is going to be an EPIC year!

Thanks, Jenny!
