As 2015 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the past year, and thinking ahead what’s to come in 2016. For me, 2015 has been a year of personal growth. At 29 years old (but turning 30 in a couple weeks…ah!!), I can confidently say that I’ve grown and changed the most in my life this last year. I’m not sure why, but it’s been a really interesting year for me (interesting in a good way). And more to come on my thoughts on the past year and the year ahead later this week.
In the meantime, I decided to pose 2 questions to some wonderful people in my life. I loved hearing their answers, and I thought you might, too!
What is something you’re going to take away from 2015 (i.e. – any lessons learned, etc)?
What are you most looking forward to in 2016?
___
‘2015 was the year I re-learned what all little kids inherently know…when we do things that cause us to lose track of time, we are ALWAYS on the right path. For me, that has been writing, creating programs and having real connecting convos with other moms as a life and parenting coach.’
‘I am so excited to launch my 1st book in April and lead a conversation about moms reclaiming our power and eradicating gender inequality once and for all in this country. As moms, we shape the next generation and have so much authority over the future. Let’s do this Ladies! Stay tuned for the continuation of this convo in 2016.’
–Randi Rubenstein, Life and Parenting Coach for Moms
___
‘I learned that I need to stay flexible when thinking of success. I felt failure on many levels in 2015, and ironically it was my most successful year- I’ve learned that my idea of who I am and success needs to be limber for me to truly grow.’
‘Getting back to the WHY I am doing this work, launching new emotional health programs in high schools and colleges nationwide!’
–Sahar Paz, Author, Life Coach, Yoga Instructor
___
‘The greatest lesson I learned in 2015 was to stay open and be ready for all opportunities. Focusing on one to the exclusion of others is unwise because many times the way you think it will happen is not the way it actually does. You’ll stay upbeat and excited about tomorrow if you keep your mind open and remain clear about your goals.’
‘What gets me excited about 2016 is the fact that my mission is expanding and reaching more and more people who are helping me help others. Every day is a surprise……I LOVE THAT!!!!’
–Mary Jo Rapini, Licensed Relationship and Sex Therapist, Author, Speaker
___
‘This year was so crazy and incredible! I guess what I took away from this year is that everything happens for a reason and at the right time.’
‘I am most looking forward to continuing to see the evolution of the Hubby and I as parents and to see my little man grow.’
–Monica Abney, Blogger at Classy & Fabulous, Fashion Illustrator
___
‘What I took away from 2015: Gratitude for each moment without negativity around you; I took for granted before.’
‘What I’m looking most forward to in 2016: The arrival of my sisters baby.’
–Petra Nemcova, Supermodel and Philanthropist, Founder of Be The Light New York
___
‘Take away from 2015: I focus on my day to day goals but keep my eyes on the big picture. When I work through the little things it most of the time leads to the right outcome.’
‘I’m most looking forward to strengthening my connections, learning and traveling in 2016.’
–Morgan Jankovic, Personal Chef and Blogger at The Foodie Chef
___
‘Biggest lesson learned in 2015 is, don’t be afraid to ask for (or pay for) help. Whether that means with work, around the house, taxes, or some other task that is getting in the way. Sometimes you just can’t do it all, and you can be so much more effective in every facet of your life if you have extra sets of hands. ‘
‘Weddings and Babies. Several close friends are getting married in 2016, and several others are having new babies, so it should be a beautiful year of new beginnings.’
–Beth DeLozier-Hayes, Owner of Manor
___
‘Ask questions before saying a quick yes or no. Sometimes a YES answer involves more than it seemed, and sometimes a quick NO limits you from trying something new. Just take a deep breath, and say, “tell me more about this!” before you answer.’
–Candace Thomas, Family and Lifestyle Blogger at Luxe…with Kids

‘2015 was a major year of growth for me, both personally and professionally. I think I finally, after a lot of work and soul-searching, figured out the answers to some really important business questions I’d been asking myself for a long time. I’m still trying to sort out how to balance work and family, but I’m excited to see what’s to come in 2016. I’m going to try to enjoy the ride, instead of stressing out about my to-do list so much!’

‘Something I’m going to take away from 2015? Connecting with your readers is key. It is all about the connections you make that makes this all the worthwhile. I have met so many great women and its connecting with them and learning from each other that helps you grow as an individual. This is a creative outlet for others to get inspiration so always being yourself and having your own unique style is key!’
‘Most looking forward to in 2016? Able to grow in my blog as I go on my 2nd year and of course meeting and connecting with more people. It is always so nice to finally meet someone in person and find their name instead of just by their Instagram handle haha! I also hope to travel more and will be a bridesmaid in 3 weddings in 3 months so I will be going going going next year and I am excited to share all those moments! Also to just relax more and count my blessings. I feel like it is sometimes really hard to do that with all of the technology and wanting to connect but it really does make a difference when you just have quiet you time!’
–Brittany Boone, Blogger at BNB Styling

‘What I’m looking forward to in 2016 is focusing on the growth of my company, Mad Meg Creative. My trusty confidant, Alyssa Evans, graduated from college this month and will be starting off 2016 in a salaried role. We’ll be hiring a new intern and focus on growing the social media management and website design divisions of Mad Meg. My children’s book, From J to Z, The Shawn Carter Story will be out the first first quarter of this year, too, so that’s exciting!
-Megan Silianoff, Founder of Mad Meg Creative and Blogger at Greetings from Texas
