Way back when, I was a big smoothie person. ‘Caribbean Way’ from Smoothie King was my jam. I can’t tell you the last time I had a smoothie until this past week, though.
I was leaving the gym, and the cafe where I workout makes delicious smoothies, so I figured, what the heck, let’s get one. I decided on Apple Pie (odd choice, I know, but pretty damn good, I will say). Since that day, I’ve been on a major smoothie kick. I’ve gotten smoothies at various places, and what’s even better, is I’ve been making my own smoothies! Yep, it’s true.
I pulled out one of my trusty wedding presents that I hadn’t touched yet, and that blender has become my bestie these days. I’m not adventurous enough yet to go green and try that whole spinach/kale/kiwi type smoothie, BUT I have been experimenting with other types. My favorite I’ve been making is banana, frozen raspberries, grapes, and unsweetened soy milk. DELISH. I love banana anything.
Next one I’m trying to make is going to include almond butter and cherries, too. Roz and my intern, Alyssa (aka our in house nutritionist because she knows legitimately everything there is to know about healthy eating), gave me the tip to buy frozen fruits (not the ones in juices because those are full of sugar, just regular frozen fruit) and use that instead of ice so your smoothie doesn’t become watered down. Genius!
And, with that, I give you the smoothies I’ve found on the world wide web that I’m pumped to make. Any recommendations you have? Would love to hear in the comments below!
