Matthew and I went back and forth on having a wedding party or not. It’s not that we didn’t want to honor our nearest and dearest, but we didn’t know how many to do, nor did we want to leave anyone out. We did have a wedding party, though, and we’re thrilled we did.
Our wedding party included: 2 Matrons of Honor (Matthew’s sister and my sister-in-law), 2 Best Men (my brother and Matthew’s brother-in-law), 4 Maids of Honor (one was actually a Matron of Honor, as she just got married a few weeks before me), 4 other Best Men (Matthew’s friends), 6 Bridesmaids, 6 Groomsmen, a Junior Bridesmaid, Flower Girl, and Ring Bearer. It sounds like a lot, I know. However, I’ve moved so many times, as you know, and I wanted to honor people from various parts of my life. As well, we did not have our wedding party stand up with us (only our immediate family) so they were able to walk down the aisle and sit in the first couple rows.
My bridal party wore long black dresses. I had them wear any long black dress they wanted. Matthew’s boys wore any black tux with black long ties and white shirts. Matthew gave his boys a couple accessories to spruce up their tuxedos the day of the wedding. He gave each of them a personalized tie bar and a monogrammed pocket square along with a personalized jewelry box. I gave my ladies Charmed Circle initial necklaces and good hYOUman shirts.
The boys each had calla lily boutonnieres and the girls each carried a bouquet of white tulips, from Always Flowers.
