Fall Staples

I’m the first one to jump up and down with excitement at the talk of summer. As the season approaches I start counting down to laying out by the pool, hours spent on the lake, and backyard BBQs. However, when this short, carefree season starts coming to an end, I get giddy awaiting fall. I’ve never been a teacher, and maybe it’s just because so many of my friends are teachers, but I tend to follow a school year calendar. Of course I work all summer long, but it feels like a much different kind of work. I like to take extra long lunches when possible, take Friday afternoons off, and if I can do it, go for an afternoon swim. Come fall, though, it’s back to the grind. Even though it’s not a new year, fall always feels like one. I’m rejuvenated at the close of summer. I’m ready for a busy season ahead, and I can hardly wait for fall fashion. I have quite the shopping list of items I am eager to purchase for the upcoming season, but for now I’ve rounded up what I feel are a few fall essentials.

A blazer is a year round essential, but especially for fall. It instantly adds a polished feel to any ensemble, and it can be dressed up or down.

A solid pair of jeans is crucial for the fall months, and you want a pair that is comfortable, yet totally chic, and can take you throughout the entire rest of the year.

I live in lightweight scarves, especially in the cooler months. Throw it over any outfit, and what was an otherwise more basic look has been brought to the next level.

A pair of booties with a thick heel is something I plan on living in day after day this season.

Long necklaces are always a favorite of mine, and especially ones with the most stunning pendants.

A white blouse or tee (another option) is key to wear with jeans and flats out on the weekends or a skirt and heels to the good old 9 to 5.

Bags with long straps make everything easier in my book, and one with a distressed look screams fall in every single way.
