We all have heard it time and time again. Taking off your makeup before bed is VITAL to your skin’s health and well being. I’ll admit it…back in my younger years I would sleep in makeup. You know, those college days back in Boston, I’d have slumber parties here and there with members of the opposite sex, and I’d leave my makeup on as to wake up all pretty in the morning. You know you’ve done it, too, girls!!! ANYWAY, I always always always take my makeup off before bed these days. I’m turning 30 soon enough, and I want to do as much as possible as to avoid aging looking skin.
I typically use makeup cleansing wipes either post-workout or when I wear heavier eye makeup (meaning more than solely mascara). Otherwise, my face soap usually does the trick with my regular day to day makeup. I’ve done my research. I’ve tried plenty of different cleansing wipes, and I’ll be honest, there aren’t many I truly love. I’ve tried lots! Here are my top 3.
Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes: These are probably my absolute favorite. I learned about them via Aliza Licht’s Instagram, and they really do the trick. They get heavy makeup off, they don’t have a strong or offensive smell, they’re gentle, and oil free. My only negative with these guys would be the closure. The sticky adhesive becomes not as sticky over time, so it ends up not staying as securely shut, which in turn, will cause the wipes to dry out if not used soon enough.
Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes with White Tea Extract: These smell super fresh and have aloe in them. I especially love to use these post-workout. I wouldn’t say they get makeup off as well as the Clean & Clear ones, but they still pretty much do the job. I also enjoy the closure of these because it’s a ‘snap’ closure so there’s no adhesive situation happening here.
Aveeno Active Naturals Ultra-Calming Makeup Removing Wipes: These wipes also have that handy dandy snap closure, but more important, they are great with getting makeup off. They also have a nice smell to them, are oil free, and are extra calming. They leave your skin feeling fantastic.
I love your “dirty” little college sleepover story! Does Matthew read these blogs too?!
