I heart NY

I was walking through Saks last night picking up a few makeup essentials I was out of, and on my way out I couldn’t help but stop at one of the Bond No. 9 perfume displays. It completely caught my eye and I even got a bit choked up. As much as I do absolutely love my life down in Texas, I can’t help but miss parts of my life in New York sometimes. I have incredible friends who still live there (and I miss them every single day), but there are also parts of the actual city I absolutely adore. As much as the city did make me crazy, when I was having brunch and mimosas outside with some of my absolute closest friends, I didn’t think of the loud and boisterous city in which I lived. When I was walking on the cobblestone streets in the West Village, it felt like I was worlds away from the bustling midtown area through which I’ve walked one too many times. On a breezy day, spending time in Central Park, is just another moment that I’ll cherish from my NYC life. Even though I’ve officially been a Houstonian again for over five months and I’m extremely happy living here, I will always think of the life which I once lived on that fabulous island of Manhattan. I took the below pictures while strolling with one of my best friends on a beautiful day in NYC about a year ago.

If you live in the Houston area and don’t have plans tomorrow night (or if you do, but want another fantastic option) head on over to Girls Night Out at Discovery Green in support of Alzheimer’s Action Day. The event will include manicures, delicious Snowballs, beautiful jewelry from Stella & Dot, and the one and only (amazing) tearjerker The Notebook. Bring your girlfriends or drag your man there for a fun date night. More information below and on the event’s Facebook page.

I love your pictures of NYC–there’s truly nothing like it! Did you happen to smell that perfume when you walked by? I’ve always wondered what it was like!

I’m in the same boat as you-lived in NYC for 5 years and just moved back down south 6 months ago. I miss NYC with all my heart, even though it drove me nuts at times (lugging your entire life with you to and from work; having a good idea only to realize the rest of Manhattan has that very same idea; my love/hate with MTA)-NYC will always have a special place in my heart. Maybe one day (after I win the lottery) life will take me back, but until then, Tennessee is home.
I do miss being a “New Yorker”. I feel as if I’ve lost my cool factor.

Exactly! At times it just may be too much, but the city is still the most amazing city in the country! It’s a love/hate relationship for me. Hope life is going well in Tennessee! I’m sure you’re just as cool! xo, Julie
