I think hobbies are extremely important in one’s life. I truly feel they are a decent part of one’s happiness. By definition, a hobby is an activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure.
Whether said activity is reading, writing, making jewelry, taking photos, art classes, playing a musical instrument, gardening, crafting, or anything in between, there are tons and tons and tons of hobbies out there, easily accessible (and many totally affordable)!
For so long, if I was asked the question What are your hobbies?, I truly couldn’t think of one. Not one. Fast forward to now, and my hobbies include, but are not limited to: writing, crafting, playing guitar (I recently started playing…I’m terrible, but it’s fun!), working out, and I’m constantly coming across new things I’m wanting to try.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, what stage of life you’re in, if you have kids or not, if you have a significant other or not, anyone, and I mean anyone, can (and should) have a hobby (or hobbies). These for pleasure activities give you something to look forward to, an outlet to relieve your stress, and are simply fun. If you have not a clue where to begin on finding a hobby, start by checking sites, such as Leisure Learning (for you Houstonians, and I’m sure there are very similar ones in other cities), and pick from their long list of classes.
We’re all busy. In fact, that word ‘busy’ has become a toxic word (did you read this article? very interesting). However, we can all make time for the things we love and the things that make us happy. There are enough hours in the day, no matter what anyone else says.
Now, go find yourself a hobby and report back to me on what it is.
