What’s better than coming together with a fun, inspiring group of people for delicious food and wine? Not much.
The group
Last week, the new Mascalzone at 1500 Shepherd (second Houston location) generously hosted 25 food, fashion, and lifestyle bloggers and influencers for appetizers, drinks, and dinner. Roz, Morgan, and I coordinated the event, along with Trevor from The PR Boutique, and it was a great night. Rachel Magi, co-owner along with her husband and former professional boxer Andrea Magi, joined us for the evening, as well. There’s a chance I’m still full, and I am definitely still dreaming of the risotto.
As everyone was arriving, we drank wine and snacked on pan fried veal stuffed olives and mini pizzas. Once we sat down, we were served various appetizers, such as toasted goat cheese, pesto sauce, and sun dried tomatoes on homemade bread and arugula salad. The entree was a trio (the most decadent lasagne, risotto, and fettuccine). Dessert was not only delish, but also adorable (picture below), a chocolate gelato bignee. Salivating yet?!
I also love the ambiance of the restaurant. I would describe it as casual elegance. They have a wine room off of the main area of the restaurant, a bar, outdoor patio, and a rooftop (when the weather gets less humid, I’ll certainly be up there, oh yes I will!).
If you like authentic Italian food at a restaurant with a very cool vibe, you need to make your way over to Mascalzone. I can’t say enough good things about it. I’ve been there 3 times and I’m planning on making it a fourth time this week. #sorrynotsorry
