No, really. It’s a thing. Happy #NationalWatermelonDay! What the hell does that even mean anyway? I guess it’s just a reminder to savor the fruit of the summer? Honestly, there’s a holiday for everything. And I mean everything. Who makes up these anyway? If you know who they are, send me their digits, because I think there should be a #NationalFromProseccotoPlaidDay. That’s just my opinion, but I mean, why not?
Anywho, this past weekend my brother, sister in law, and 15 month old nephew were in town. In being totally objective, my nephew Blake is the cutest thing in all the land. And fun fact about Blake: he LOVES watermelon. If he understood much more than hi, bye, mama, dada, and things of that nature (oh and lights – the kid loves lights; if he’s not an electrician one day I’ll be shocked!), he’d be stoked today is National Watermelon Day. He gobbles that fruit up. If there was a choice between chicken tenders and watermelon, he’d go for watermelon (I’d go for chicken tenders).
