The Wedding Series: Location

Today is my first installment of ‘The Wedding Series,’ where I will be taking you on a journey through my wedding planning process and the actual wedding (which took place on June 14th). I know every bride says it, but it was quite literally the absolute best weekend of my life, and I’m still floating high above cloud nine. I’m kicking off the series with ‘The Location.’

I will admit that the most stressful part (really the only stressful part) of the entire process was figuring out a date and place. Once that was done, it was clear sailing. We ultimately decided to have our wedding at Turnberry Isle Miami in Aventura, Florida.

Before making this decision, we considered places in New York (where I used to live), Texas (where I currently live), and even other places in Florida. Something many of you likely don’t know is that I was born in Florida, my parents met in Florida and lived there for quite a while together, my entire family went to college in Florida, and I still have family down there (including my grandmothers). As well, my parents were actually married at Turnberry Isle over 35 years ago (granted, it was called Aventura Country Club back then, but still the same building more or less). Finally, we wanted something out of Houston (where we live). We wanted a destination (ideally a resort) where people would travel to and stay the weekend, not just come for the day and leave.

For all these reasons and more, Turnberry was our spot, and it was truly magical. The staff was extremely accommodating, the rooms were phenomenal, the food was exceptional, and I truly have not one complaint about the resort. My mom and I stayed there for a week and a half prior to the wedding weekend to finish up some last minute things down there, and everyone at Turnberry made us feel at home the entire time, every single day.  I didn’t want to leave, and I can’t wait to go back.
